Equal

Luke 6:17  "And he came down with them
                    and stood on a stretch of level ground."

Two things. 
First:  Smooth, level gound would be easier for the people to stand, to walk, to wait their turn to see him, and to walk around with their families and friends.

Second:  He came down.  He came from heaven to earth.  He came to our level.  He is a man.  A human person.  One of us.  Our equal.  He came as one person to another.
